what i do

By profession I am a freelance writer and journalist. At the end of the day when you add up my earnings the check comes from newspapers, magazines, and web publications that neatly fit into the "New Media" slot on the imaginary form we are filling out. In spite of that, writing is not all that I do...

The following sections of this Services Page neatly describes what I do -- and what I might be induced into doing -- with a general idea of how I must be compensated for those services.

freelance writing

I am fluent in the subject of the Internet, the Web, Computer Networks and Security, Video Games, Travel, and Feature Writing for newspapers, magazines, and the Web. I accept freelance assingments on any of the above topics and others, if the assignment is one that I feel that I can contribute a valuable voice on.

If you are an editor and you have an assignment that you think may be a fit please send an email to me at chris@boots-faubert.com that includes the basic information about the proposed piece of project, and your contact infromation so that we can discuss it in detail.

blogging / guest blogging

A lot of freelance writers today blog -- and many of the successful ones get paid to do it. I also blog, but there is a key difference between my blogging and commercial blogging: i don't do it professionally and I am not very likely to accept an offer to blog for your site, paid or not. The simple answer here is that I am not a blogger, I am a writer and journalist. While I appreciate being considered for every job, and I like to get paid for doing what I do best -- writing -- as flattering as it is to get that sort of offer I am not likely to accept it.

website design

Back in the wild days of the 1990's I got into the Web Design and Web Server Administration game literally from Day 1 -- and I have worked as a webmaster, website designer, and graphics artist, but that is not what I do professionally.

Having said that, I still make myself available for web design projects for non-profit endeavors on a strictly volunteer basis, from design to security, so if you need my help and I am affiliated with your organization, I will probably help if you ask, because that is how I roll.

rates and compensation

Depending upon the project, pay rates and compensation must be determined case-by-case, and that usually gets accomplished in the "talking about" phase of a work proposal. I do not have any fixed rate schedule that I can provide for you other than to state that I work for industry-standard rates on most projects, and I am very flexible on the rates for multi-piece projects!

contact me

I can be reached via email at chris@boots-faubert.com and that is the best way to contact me if you are going to propose a project or assignment, since you can put all sorts of details down in writing and I like it better when that happens. If you need to actually speak to me you can reach me voice at 508-221-1246 but if I do not answer, please do be sure to leave me a message, right?

Thank you for your interest in employing me for your project -- I always like to earn money, and I am pretty good at meeting deadlines and providing interesting and easy to read product -- and I am always happy to hear about new opportunities! But just so we are clear on this, I am not intereted in purchasing a time-share, in any investments, or in real estate in Cuba...
